UK Travel Requirements for 2025

U.S. Travelers to the UK require the Electronic Travel Authorization (ETA)

Effective January 8th, 2025 the Electronic Travel Authorization (ETA) for American visitors will be required to enter the United Kingdom.This mandatory requirement will provide visitors permission to travel to the United Kingdom, including England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland and goes into effect January 8th, 2025. By April 2025, all visitors who do not need a visa will require an ETA to travel to the United Kingdom.

We highly suggest applying a minimum of 3 weeks prior to travel.

What you need to know:

  • An ETA must be applied for online in advance of travel to England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland.
  • Every U.S. traveler on your UK bookings MUST apply.
  • ETA decisions usually take 3 business days, and can occasionally take longer.
  • Eligible non-Europeans and Visitors from the United States of America will need an ETA to travel from January 8th, 2025, and beyond.
  • An ETA will be linked to the traveler’s passport and will last for two years or until the traveler’s passport expires – whichever comes first.
  • Travelers will be able to make multiple journeys of up to 6 months within those two years.
  • An ETA will cost £10 (British Pounds) and each traveler including babies and children will be required to hold an ETA.
