AVOID THE NOID

With travel coming back with a vengeance,  and International travel at its highest rate since 2019, it’s time for a friendly reminder: Call your bank and let them know that you are traveling. Depending on where you’re traveling, you might not have cell phone service or might have a hefty bill if you have to call your bank from a different country. So let’s go ahead and call your bank to let them know you are traveling before they shut off your card from looking suspicious. Also, it’s a great time to ask what international fees you may occur. Some banks there might not be any fee. However, most have a fee per swipe and can vary depending on which country you are in. This can help you determine which card you’ll be taking, or if you’re going to bring cash to the country to get exchanged for their currency.

Another tip, go ahead and check your international plans with your phone company. You might be surprised that some places (like Mexico) may or may not have any fees attached to calling as long as you have it in the system that you’re traveling. While some have plans as low as $5 for a month of unlimited international calling and data. This is very important while you’re traveling on a cruise as you may check into multiple countries in just a few days. Some may or may not be included in certain international plans.
